I operate in MANY capacities, but the most important for me,
is being a mom. I have four beautiful daughters of whom I am extremely proud!
When I'm not being a tutor, uber driver, cheerleader, mentor, cook, etc. for their personal gratification, lol, I serve as:
President of the Outreach, Youth and Women's Departments (at my local church)
Chairperson for the LSC of my girls' school
Ambassador for the American Stroke Association
My literary journey started in 2010, with my first book, Pleasing Your Partner: A Spiritual Guide to H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S., in which I ranked #3 as the 2011 National Black Book Festival's Best New Author.
Currently, I've published over ten books, and have been recognized as both a National AND International Award-Winning Author
(the latter was a result of winning the Readers' Favorite International Book Awards in 2013 for my book, Inspiration from A.B.O.V.E.).
I took my love for helping others and created my organization,
Artists Promoting Success (APS) in 2013, to help independent authors learn the business of being an author. At the top of 2019, I extended the brand to help all entrepreneurs grow their business.
In 2014, I started my publishing company, APS Publishing.
In 2015, I opened my bookstore, APS Books & More, originally inside of Chicago's Ford City Mall, then later on 26th & Lawndale, in the heart of the Little Village community. It now operates solely online.
In 2017, I created the APS Book Awards, a contest purposed to highlight the achievements of independent artists; it runs annually from January 1 to April 12. The winners are recognized at the APS Awards Gala on the 4th Thursday in August.
In March 2019, I founded #ImGladToBeAWoman, a group purposed to empower women all across the globe despite age, race, religion, social, political or relationship status.
